Advances in Head and Neck-Thyroid Oncology

Program Information

The concurrent development of treatment options in Head and Neck cancer (HNC) and thyroid cancers within a short period of time, along with improvements in surgical techniques and radiation technology has made prospective data on their sequential use and efficacy complicated, which have challenged clinician confidence, knowledge, and competency. The increasingly complex treatment milieu is marked by limited sequencing or combination trials, a progressively multifaceted understanding of disease pathophysiology and emerging therapeutics with novel mechanisms of action. Understanding the available treatments, both current and emerging, and how these agents interface with disease pathophysiology to drive a more personalized medicine approach remain significant challenges for clinicians who treat patients with HNC and thyroid cancers.

This program will feature nationally recognized experts from the Moffitt Cancer Center Department of Head & Neck – Endocrine Oncology at the forefront of HNC and thyroid cancers. This activity is designed to help medical oncologists, surgical and radiation oncologists, and other healthcare professionals understand best practice approaches to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Through an interdisciplinary discussion, topics ranging the spectrum from virtual surgical planning, integrating immunotherapy into treatment plans, to advances in external beam radiation will provide the most up-to-date information, approach, and practical management considerations, which in turn will help to optimize patient outcomes. Our expert faculty will facilitate an engaging and interactive experience for participants.
